XIXth century magic was mostly limited to the Pass, the Top Change and the Palm. Erdnasse practically opened the door to a new era in Card Magic when he explained techniques using the overhand shuffle to be used instead of the pass, stack cards and achieve many other results unknown to previous card magicians. These techniques came from the gaming tables. During the XX Century, magicians developped many alternative handlings, new techniques and methods inspired by the study of Erdnase's book. Without Erdnase, card magic as we know it today would probably not exist at all, and we'd be using the pass, the top change, the palm and boxes with false bottoms to do card magic, as it was done 150 years ago.
