I love these nail writers (and Corinda's book 13 Steps to Mentalism). And some are painted flesh colour. But the white ones are the really the best. Sounds weird? White is just the correct colour, as this is wore under the nail, whose translucence makes it look the right hue through the nail! However, the part that holds the lead, which goes over the nail, may be a little too visible, and may be coloured in several ways:
1. Cut a piece from a flesh coloured band aid, and stick it around the tube that holds the nail. Use the cloth band aids, that give no reflection.
2. Buy flesh colour Testors scale model paint, and paint the tube.
3. If you paint your nails with nail polish, you may apply the same product to the tube that holds the lead. Some of the very best nail writer users are know are female, by the way.
Do not paint the "wings" of the "C" flesh colour. They are white (actually a very light cream colour), because that's the right colour to see through the nail.
Finally, the "wings" of the "C" are flat, but your nails are not. Use pincers to curve them, so they fit correctly under your nail. – Wilhelm Eberhard
This is a utility and so its dependent on how well you can use it. For the price, its definitely worth it! Unfortunately, however, the one I received was white colored and not flesh colored so that's the main reason I deducted one star. Since even with the white color, it hard to see, this is still useful but I would recommend the description being updated to state that the color is white not flesh. Service wise, I am satisfied as the shipping is extremely fast. Thanks! – MMS
This is a great item, though it requires a lot of training to use. In spite of this, some simple effects are easy to learn and to do.
You can bend the metal "C", for better adjustment, replace the lead for a 4B (a softer lead) and even paint it flesh coulour with scale model paints. And you can use a bit of double face adhesive tape to stick it to the inside of your thumb nail, if you require more stability. – Wilhelm Eberhard
