I have found that while the ring is good for palming purposes, it really doesn't work for much else. It will stop a watch if it is placed right against the back plate in the right place. It will move the shimmed cards but only if you maneuver the right directly over the shim. And most of the time the card will jump, giving you away. One of my cards has an obvious bump where the shim is. The dollar is very easy to spot and wears out quickly. But for free I guess you can't complain. Haven't tried the wax or putty yet but it all looks the same, hard and purple. I haven't figured out how to work around its striking purple colour yet. I will have to be very angle conscious!
