Johnny Ace Palmer was voted Best Close-up Magician at the Magic Castle in Hollywood two years in a row.
He is the only magician to have received both the International Brotherhood of Magician's Gold Cups Award of Excellence and the Society of American Magicians' Gold Medal Award of Honor.
And, at the triennial International Federation of Magic Societies' Convention (FISM), magicians from 47 countries around the world witnessed, for the only time in the history of magic, the GRAND PRIX, magic's highest honor, being awarded to a Close-up magician - Johnny Ace Palmer.
Part 1 * Develop an Award Winning Act
See the two-time Magic Castle Lecturer of the Year perform his award winning FISM ACT. If you've ever been at the Castle when Johnny was performing and missed this act because every show was filled to capacity, here's your chance to finally see it.
*Attitude - Your attitude determines your outcome - Johnny will teach you how it made him world champion.
*Timing - Johnny reveals how timing can literally leave your spectators on the edge of their seats - and free your mind for other productive matters.
*Trim the Excess - Johnny tells you why you should throw marginal material overboard and reap the benefits.
*Standing Ovation Technique - Want a standing ovation at your next show? This is one of those secrets that's so valuable, it should be held under lock and key.
*Practice Techniques (including the next level) - Johnny reveals his methods for making sure that every minute of practice improves your magic.
Part 2 * Principles and Concepts
*Classic Misdirection - Demonstrated with his 8-Ball production.
*Off Beat Misdirection - Johnny reveals for the first time, his Coke Bottle Production that kicks off his FISM act.
*The X Effect - Demonstrated with Johnny's hilarious Coin in Eye routine.
*Series of Three - Perhaps Johnny's biggest secret is the most evident one. It's everywhere in his magic.
*Salad Bar Magic - Like Jazz magic, Johnny explains how your mood and the situation can make your magic new and original every time.
*Respect - Treat your spectator's well and you'll enjoy the success.
*Multiple Methods - Using multiple methods, your magic will be impossible to figure out.
*Audience Participation - The benefits of having your audience 'involved' rather than 'committed.'
*Camouflage - A variant of the Black Art Principal that you can use Close-up, all the time.
*One Ahead - According to Larry Jennings, the only principal in magic.
*Substitution - Make your familiar effect look different with this technique.
Part 3 * Original and Favorite Effects
*The Egg Bag - Johnny's fast paced routine is ideal for table hoppers. His unexpected production of the egg uses SOUND misdirection.
*No Problem - A spectator chooses the 4 of Diamonds, but you incorrectly produce the 5. No problem, you just flick the 5th pip off the card!
*A Little Light on the Subject - A card revelation using a table lamp that's always ready to go. Perfect for the living room or office.
*Too Fast! - A card prediction and Transpo that's quite easy, despite the fact it has several slights. It's a perfect routine to practice the slip force, the top change and palming because of it's natural built in misdirection.
*Three Magic Scarves - Does magic get any more visual? Three silks magically vanish into one another, and the spectator pulls the last one out. (I'm stocking up on 9-inch silks!)
