– travis votaw This book is an absolute nessecity to anyone who wants to get into coin magic it packed full of stuff that is simply brilliant.
– Linda Flannery i was walking through a used book sale and i came across this book. it kinda called out to me so i bought and im so glad i did. the tricks tought in this book are invaluable. you will use them in a tone of tricks like the slights. you also can make up tricks just by learning the slights alone. im not a big fan of books but this is one of my favorit books that i have perchased. i highly recamend it:)
– Andy Canning If you do are intend to do, coin magic this is an essential buy. Every technique you could wish for.
– Wilhelm Eberhard Bobo's book is still the best book to learn coin magic!
The secret to learn from this book is:
Do not read the book from page 1 to the last page!
Go directly either to chapter 5, "Quick tricks", or to chapter 9, "Coin Classics". Then, when the instructions for the trick indicate you to use a sleight, you go to the page for the sleight (it is indicated right there, no need to check the index), and study the sleight to apply it to the trick.
If you just learn the version of the Gadabout Coins, in page 182, you will have one of the stronger close-up effects you can ever have!
Tell more about this book would be to disclose things that should be kept secret.
– Wilhelm Eberhard Yes, it is hard to learn from this book, because the explanations of the sleights are separated from the tricks in which these sleights are used. But, in the long run, no other book on coin magic (or sleight of hand with other small objects) will be as rewarding, as inspiring or as useful as this one.
This book is not written as a course to learn coin magic. It is a highly technical reference book for experts or advanced magicians. However, if you want to use this book to learn coin magic, you should go directly to the fifth chapter, select any of the 27 quick tricks and start practicing it. If you need to learn a specific sleight, study only the sleight you need (the descriptions are in chapters I to IV), and focus on your chosen quick trick, until you can perform it. The reactions of your audience when you perform any of those great "quick tricks" will make you feel as the most successful coin magician ever born... You will soon be adding more "quick tricks" to your act, and the more you add, the more succesful you will be with coin magic. Be assured that, the more you study coin magic, the more you will love this book.
– Lennard Yeong Like the other review says, dont expect this book to teach you coin magic in a snap. The illustrations are a little vague, but nonetheless,it is a book with a wealth of information and will make any coin magician better if time and dedication is put into this book
– Ryan Pilling Ok, so this book, originally published in 1952, suffers from the same problems as many magic books from that era... it's not the easiest thing to learn from. The majority of the effects and techniques don't have any illustrations. You basically have to get the gist of what they are saying, then work out the details for yourself.
However... This book still remains the best value for the buck in Coin Magic. Careful study will allow you to pull out some great tricks, and the almost encyclopedic listing of sleights will give you enough to tackle most any coin trick.
A challenge... but worthwhile.
